Personalized Service and Competitive Rates
Two promises sit at the center of my practice, and they’re right there in the title of this page. Here is exactly what each one means.
Personalized Service Means You Get Me — Not a Firm
When you hire the Law Office of Paul Tyler, you hire Paul Tyler. Not a junior associate, not a paralegal, not a case manager. Me, personally, at every stage:
- I answer my own phone. Call 805-889-9000 — day, night, weekends — and the person who picks up is the attorney who will handle your case. No receptionist screening, no “he’ll call you back.”
- You will have my cell number from day one, and I will always be available to you, even on weekends.
- I make every court appearance myself. I am in the Ventura County courthouse nearly every day, and I handle all of my own cases and all of my own appearances. On misdemeanors, I appear for you — you never have to miss work or set foot in a courtroom.
- You will always know what happens next. No surprises, ever. After every court date I will tell you exactly what happened, what it means, and what’s coming. I grew up in Ventura County, I’ve practiced here for 30 years with more than 20,000 court appearances, and the personal approach is not a marketing slogan — it’s simply how a solo practice run by someone who cares actually works.
And here is the part of personalized service that matters most: honesty. Sometimes I will be able to get your case dismissed, and sometimes I won’t. Sometimes I can get charges reduced, and sometimes I can’t. But you will always get my straight, unvarnished assessment of your case — what’s realistic, what’s not, and what I would do if it were my family member in your seat. You need a lawyer you can trust to do the right thing for you while not overcharging you for what gets done. That is the entire philosophy of this office.
Competitive Rates Means Flat Fees and No Games
Legal fees shouldn’t be a mystery, and with me they never are:
- Flat fees, quoted up front. Before you hire me, you will know exactly what my representation costs — one number, agreed in advance. No hourly billing, no running meter, no surprise invoices, no anxiety every time you call me (call as often as you like; it costs you nothing extra).
- A free consultation, including the fee quote. Call me and I will discuss your case — the charges, the possible defenses, what you’re realistically facing — and give you a free quote, all in the same conversation. No office visit required; it can all be done by phone, with no obligation whatsoever.
- Fair pricing for the case you actually have. Every case is different: a straightforward misdemeanor costs less than a complex felony, and I price each case on its actual seriousness and complexity — competitively, because as a solo practitioner I don’t carry the overhead of a big firm, and you’re not paying for one.
- Payment plans available, and every payment method accepted — all major credit cards, Zelle, Apple Pay, PayPal, even cryptocurrency. See my Payment Options page for details. For specific guidance on what different case types cost, see my Attorney Fee Schedule.
